RFID for Medical Device
or Implant Storage in Hospitals

Administrate your implant stock independently

RFID solution CCS M2 offers you to administrate your implant stock in a secure and cost saving manner.
A special stand-alone version even allows you to tag the products independently from your suppliers.

Before you start reading, please think for a moment about the following questions:

Have you ever checked the value of your implant stock?
Do you have any clue about its stockturn?

Typically, the stockturn of manually managed implant stock is about 4 – 6 months. Our experience shows that CCS M2 brings it down to 1 month within 6 months.

What about releasing cash for further investment and growth?

Nowadays very few hospitals are in a comfortable position where cash is abundant. Assuming that you had an initial stock value of 0,2 million Euros with 4 month stockturn CCS M2 would release 150.000 Euros in cash, then available for investment into better treatment and growth.

What is the share of obsolescent implants in your total implant consumption?
What are your total costs related to this?

Obsolescent implants are a constant nuisance in the relationship between you and your suppliers. Who is responsible for bearing the costs of taking back expired products? CCS M2 reduces the risk of implants becoming obsolete by more than 90% due to much higher stockturn and automatic expiry time monitoring.

How many of your employees (nurses) are involved in monitoring your implant stock and keeping track of its consumption and replenishment? What are its total costs?

Typically, a stock of 2 – 3000 stock keeping units (SKUs) is handled by at least one fulltime employee on the payroll of the hospital. This compares to our monthly leasing fee of 350 – 450 Euros for a corresponding CCS M2 system which automatically reorders and ships the implants.

Did missing availability of implants ever affect the planned treatment of your patients?
What were the costs related to this?

We have no figures for the status quo ante installation of an CCS M2 in that respect. But what we can say is that with CSS CCS M2there will be no missing implants or devices so there are no costs relating to cancelled surgeries etc. afterwards.

In everyday life of a hospital where nothing goes by the plan, a reliable availability of medical products is crucial for the successful treatment of the patient. Under these conditions on time reordering of medical products very often becomes a tedious and time consuming activity that detracts your attention from the patient. Sometimes control is even incomplete so that an urgently needed product may not be available at all or its date of obsolescence may have expired. Consequently surgeries will have to be cancelled or worse, in the case of an emergency, medical doctors are forced „to improvise".

Your smart protection

CCS M2 protects you from such scenarios. It takes over control of your stock – fully automatic, day and night and 100% correct. All products that bear a RFID tag are stored in one or more smart cabinets that continuously monitor their content. Whether it is your property or that of the manufacturer, CCS M2 initiates the necessary processes both of the manufacturer and the hospital.

Automatic replenishment and stock control

When taking out a product from the smart cabinet CCS M2 the system automatically takes care of replenishment orders from the manufacturer. Thanks to a special platform CCS M2 is even able to administrate implant stock for you from various suppliers.

Your own tagging station

Tagging stations can also directly be placed in hospitals.

For hospitals that prefer to monitor their stock by themselves, we offer a tag matching station that allows you to assign a unique identity to each and every implant. This information can then be matched with information on the primary packaging of the implant such as EAN code, expiry dates, etc. which will be written on the RFID tag when attaching the tag to the implant.

No electromagnetic interference with other systems in the hospital

As CCS M2 is completely Faraday shielded, it can be installed in the intensive care section of a hospital without risking to influence any other medical devices or electronic systems.

Variable organizer boxes

CCS Tray

It is of great importance to structure the content of a smart cabinet in such a way that it becomes a natural element of the daily workflow in a hospital rather than an obstacle. We have created drawers that contain organizer boxes, i.e. portable containers for implants in an optimized size and profile such that they carry complete implant kits for surgeries accommodating the requirements of hospitals.
